World of Trouble enhanced his reputation as one of the fastest horses in the world on any surface with a commanding front-running score in the Grade 1, $400,000 Jaipur Stakes on the Belmont Stakes undercard.
World of Trouble shot right to the front in the Jaipur, entertained pace prompting from Belvoir Bay through fractions of 21.99 seconds and 43.85, and went on to score by 1 ¾ lengths, completing the six furlongs over a firm Widener turf course in 1:06.37.
Om, an unlucky runner up in the 216 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint but who had gone longer in almost all of his starts since, finished a game second, three-quarters of a length before a mildly rallying Disco Partner, it was a half-length farther back to Belvoir Bay in fourth.
Ridden by Manny Franco, World of Trouble paid $2.80 as the heavy favorite.
World of Trouble, a 4-yeaar-old colt by Kantharos, is owned by Michael Dubb, Bethlehem Stables and Madaket Stables, and is trained by Jason Servis.
The Jaipur was World of Trouble’s fifth straight stakes victory and seventh in his last eight starts, all on about any sort of turf or dirt surface you can think of. His only defeat during that run was a narrow loss in last fall’s Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint to Stormy Liberal, last year’s champion turf male.
A full recap of the Jaipur will be posted soon on drf.com.
