Truffalino suffered an apparent fatal heart attack in the stretch of a turf race Sunday afternoon. The race-3 incident came hours after the California Horse Racing Board recommended that Santa Anita suspend the remainder of the meet. The track declined. The season is scheduled to end June 23.
