RACE 5 - MATT WINN
I understand the logic behind MR. MONEY (6) being a heavy favorite in the Matt Winn, but I happen to think he's better off going shorter (one-turn). He can win this race, but I prefer the California invader, NOLO CONTESTO (3). Nolo Contesto has paired up Beyer tops in his past two (88) and has kept good company throughout his career, and I believe a forward moving is coming tonight.
RACE 6 - WISE DAN
The scratch of INSPECTOR LYNLEY (9) narrows the field a bit, but it's still a competitive race. I loved the finish from ADMISSION OFFICE (12) at Pimlico last out, narrowly being defeated by Catholic Boy; if he gets a little pace, he should come rolling late. Others to consider include MARCH TO THE ARCH (11) and ITSINTHEPOST (7); the concern for Itsinthepost is the layoff and this possibly being a stepping stone to longer races at Del Mar.
RACE 7 - FLEUR DE LIS
ELATE (3) can obviously win this race, but I'm not convinced she is what she once was; I prefer SHE'S A JULIE (2) and BLUE PRIZE (5) as a backup.
RACE 8 - STEPHEN FOSTER
I like TOM'S D'ETAT (9) in this spot, sitting just off the pace. His effort in the Alysheba was solid, and he should move forward in his second start off the layoff. GIFT BOX (6) is an obvious contender in the Foster, as are SEEKING THE SOUL (4) and YOSHIDA (12).
RACE 9 - REGRET
The finish from HUNGRY KITTEN (6) in her maiden score here last month was visually very strong, and she may offer a bit of value given the fact that her figs are a bit light compared to the other logical contenders. Other than her, consider VARENKA (4), who was equally as impressive breaking her maiden at Belmont, and PRINCESA CAROLINA (11), who should be forwardly placed throughout.
