SAVAGE BATTLE (4) is far from the fastest horse in the upcoming King Edward (that honor belongs to Synchrony), but the trip Savage Battle encountered most recently is the type I look to take advantage of. In the Connaught Cup, Savage Battle was pocketed up rounding the far turn...and unfortunately was never able to find any running room until it was too late. Obviously there’s no guarantee he would have fired had he found a seam, but visually it looked as though the rider had horse; that presents an opportunity on a day like today.
Savage Battle is taking some early money leading into today’s King Edward (11-1 off 20-1 ML); he projects to float up from there as we get closer to post, and I’m looking forward to taking a shot on him to win.
