Los Alamitos begins its 10-day summer meeting on Saturday, which runs through July 14.

One of the features of the meeting is a $2 pick six done the old-fashioned way - without a 20-cent Rainbow format used at Santa Anita or the $2 model at Del Mar with a single ticket carryover provision.

At Los Al, the pick six is paid to ticketholders with six winners, or there is a carryover. There is a consolation paid to tickets with five winners each day.

Now, the pools are not as high as Del Mar and Santa Anita, but the format is simpler, and for some value-conscious bettors, who pay particular attention to takeouts, that alone is reason to get involved.
