I understand why people have made SKYWIRE (10) and AVIE’S FLATTER (14) the favorites in this year’s Queen’s Plate, but I’m more interested in the horse breaking from the rail: DESERT RIDE (1).

Desert Ride is the lone filly in this year’s Queen’s Plate, and I thought her win in the Woodbine Oaks was strong - especially given the fact that the pace seemingly held up. I think the added ground of today’s Plate will only be to her benefit, and I was hopeful she’d offer some value; her current odds of 4-1 don’t do much for me, but the will pays suggest she’ll float up a bit as we get closer to post.

I like Desert Ride to win the 2019 Queen’s Plate.
