Trainer Peter Miller ended a 24-streak losing streak in Southern California when Bluegrass Faith ($10.20) won a maiden special weight race for California-bred 2-year-olds in Thursday's fifth race.
Bluegrass Faith led throughout, winning by three lengths over 8-5 Fly the Sky. Ridden by Geovanni Franco, Bluegrass Faith appeared to hesitate briefly going into the turn, but quickened away from four rivals in the stretch.
Miller had not won a race in Southern Cal since May 26. In June, Miller won six races at Churchill Downs and Ellis Park.
Bluegrass Faith, by Bluegrass Cat, races for Kirk and Judy Robison and could start in the $100,000 Graduation Stakes for 2-year-old Cal-breds at Del Mar on Aug. 2.
