Halfmoon Reef held off a fast-closing X Clown to win the $75,000 colts and geldings division of the D.S. “Shine” Young Futurity at 2-5 on Saturday night at Evangeline Downs.
The winner covered the five and a half furlongs for 2-year-olds bred in Louisiana in 1:05.50. He returned $2.60.
Diego Saenz was aboard Halfmoon Reef for trainer Steve Asmussen.
