Terra's Angel ($6.80) edged Cowgirls Like Us in a photo to win Saturday's second race at Lone Star Park. The optional $40,000 claiming turf route for fillies and mares was run over a mile and a sixteenth and Terra's Angel covered the distance on firm ground in 1:41.33.
Quinn Murphy, who scratched from the Opelousas Stakes on Friday night at Evangeline Downs, came rolling for third Saturday.
Terra's Angel was content to track Emmport, who was looking for her seventh straight win, through fractions of 23.41 seconds for the opening quarter and 47.36 for the half-mile before overtaking that one and going on to cover six furlongs in 1:10.93. In the stretch, Terra's Angel was engaged by fellow multiple stakes winner Cowgirls Like Us and the pair raced stride for stride, with Terra's Angel edging her rival nearing the wire.
