The 2-year-old filly Immediate Impact earned a 76 Beyer after scoring an authoritative victory in her career debut Sunday at Del Mar. Bob Baffert trains the Into Mischief filly, a sibling to superstar Arrogate.
Immediate Impact ($2.80) pressed the pace three-wide, shot clear after passing the quarter pole, and won by six and three-quarter lengths under jockey Drayden Van Dyke. The visually impressive win (DMR, July 26, race 1) is worth watching.
The victory by Immediate Impact puts her on the short list of contenders for the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante on Aug. 31. Other potential Debutante starters run Saturday in the Grade 2 Sorrento Stakes including 88-Beyer debut winner Amalfi Sunrise, Grade 3 Schuylerville winner Comical and sharp Churchill Downs debut winner Shedaresthedevil.
