Quarter Horse champions Flash and Roll and Fly Cowboy 123 qualified for the $1.5 million All American Derby during a dozen trials run Sunday at Ruidoso Downs. The finale is Sept. 1. The first-place check for the All American Derby is $651,359, according to information provided by Ruidoso.
American Hussle was the fastest qualifier for the All American Derby, winning his 440-yard trial in 21.13 seconds. The other qualifiers, in order of times, were Ryansmanonthemoon, America Rules, Fly Cowboy 123, Tools in the Sky, Valiant Tiberias, Jest Famous, Flash and Roll, Jess Macho Corona and Midday News.
Midday News and Rustys Miracle both posted the 10th fastest qualifying time of 21.516 seconds and as such a draw to determine who would get the 10th and final spot in the gate for the All American Derby was held Monday, with the "winner" of the draw Midday News.
