Don't Sell ($8) closed from off the pace to win Saturday's $100,205 Unzip Me Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at the new distance of 5 1-2 furlongs on turf.
The new layout was used for the first time for the Unzip Me Stakes.
Don't Sell was timed in 1:01.58. During the summer, the track reconfigured the outside rail of a small section of the first turn of the turf course to allow for races to start at 5 1-2 furlongs. The races start on the main track for a few strides before joining the turf course.
The runners on the outside half of the field take a few more strides on dirt than the runners drawn on the inside posts. Don't Sell broke from post 3 and finsihed 1 1-4 lengths in front of 5-1 Apache Princess, who broke from post 2. Holly Hundy (7-1) broke from post 8 in the field of 10.
Don't Sell was ridden by Evin Roman, a late replacement for jockey Mario Gutierrez, who took off his final mount of the day after being involved in a one-horse spill in the day's eighth race.
Don't Sell is owned by Paul and Zillah Reddam and trained by Doug O'Neill. The filly has won 4 of 9 starts. The Unzip Me Stakes was her first stakes win.
