The French gelding Ziyad is the deserving favorite in the G1 Canadian International, which kicks off the late Pick 4, and is the final leg of the second P4. Desert Encounter will try to win the 12-furlong marathon for the second year in a row under Andrea Atzeni.
The European distaffers Red Tea and Imperial Charm are among the protagonists in a quality field in the G1 E.P. Taylor. Starship Jubilee was a front-running fourth in last year's edition of the 10-furlong route. She defeated Holy Helena in the local prep, the G2 Canadian, but the tables could be turned this time. Trainer Graham Motion sends out Secret Message and Si Que Es Buena.
There's no shortage of speed in the G2 Nearctic, and the six-furlong sprint could set up for Blind Ambition, Lookin to Strike, Admiralty Pier, or the Irish 3yo filly Woody Creek.
There's a mandatory payout in the Jackpot Hi 5, which has a carryover of $105K.
