Defi Du Seuil closed between rivals in the uphill stretch to win Sunday's Grade 2 Shloer Chase at two miles, the 6-year-old gelding's sixth win in eight career starts at Cheltenham. Defi Du Seuil has won 12 of 18 starts in his career.
Ridden by Barry Geraghty, Defi Du Seuil (11-8 favorite) won by 1 1-4 lengths over 5-2 Politologue. The race had only four runners and all were in the air together at the last fence.
Owned by J.P. McManus and trained by Philip Hobbs, Defi Du Seuil has won twice at the prestigious National Hunt Festival here in March, the 2017 Triumph Hurdle for 4-year-olds and the JLT Novices' Chase here earlier this year.
Defi Du Seuil is a rated as a leading candidate for the Grade 1 Tingle Creek Trophy Chase at two miles at Sandown on Dec. 7.
