Oaklawn Park has placed temporary restrictions on Remington Park-stabled racehorses and ponies from shipping into the stable area at the Hot Springs, Ark., track. The backstretch opens Monday.
Remington last week had a confirmed positive for equine herpesvirus, strain EHV-1. The horse was euthanized and the barn in which the individual was stabled was placed under a 14-day quarantine.
Oaklawn’s restrictions concern horses that have raced or been stabled at Remington since Nov. 12 or have had exposure to the like. The restrictions run for a period of 30 days, provided there are no new cases.
For specifics, contact the Oaklawn racing office, which issued the notice of restrictions Tuesday.
Oaklawn opens its meet Jan. 24.
