Horologist will be scratched from the $250,000 Zia Park Oaks and stablemate Proverb will not run in the $250,000 Zia Park Derby, trainer Richard Baltas said Saturday.
Both races are Wednesday.
The Zia Park Oaks is now expected to have a field of four fillies. Lady Apple was already a stewards’ scratch as Zia is not able to accept Remington Park-based horses at the present time due to three recent cases of equine herpesvirus at Remington.
Motion Emotion, who is scheduled to start in the Zia Park Oaks, was to travel from her Southern California base Saturday, said Baltas.
The Zia Derby could go with a field of five after originally drawing 10. It has lost the Remington-based runners Bankit, Sleepy Eyes Todd and Tone Broke, while the Zia-based Hustle Up will not run, trainer Todd Fincher told track publicist Martha Claussen.
Zia is putting on a total of seven open company stakes Wednesday. The races are worth a collective $1 million on what is known as Land of Enchantment Day. First post is 12 p.m., Mountain.
