A cold day for the 11-race all-Tapeta card.
Cooler Mike and Thor's Rocket are the obvious protagonists in the $100K Sir Barton Stakes, which kicks off the late Pick 4 as race eight. They figure to run one-two in the 1 1/16-mile OS event, with Dun Drum or Split My Pants rounding out the tri. Magical Man is stretching out with the pedigree of a sprinter on the dam's side.
After doubling up yesterday, Norm McKnight has an 89-88 lead over Mark Casse in the trainer standings.
Some racing rarities on the card: Spanish River and Court Battle are both wearing bar shoes in the first, and both are trained by farriers; Monastery Lane in the 10th has a new trainer and jockey because her regular trainer and rider are both serving a suspension. (Kimura is back riding tomorrow).
The Jackpot Hi 5 carryover is $21K. The Jackpot P6 was won again yesterday.
I Wonder is an important scratch from the ninth.
