A warmer, party cloudy day, conditions which should improve the Tapeta nicely for the marathon 13-race card.
The featured ninth is the $125K Ontario Lassie Stakes. A victory by one of the two stakes winners in the 1 1/16-mile route, Curlin's Voyage and Cool Shadows, would help build their case for Canadian champion 2yo filly honors, an award that the unbeaten Hastings sensation, Infinite Patience, might ultimately win.
Curlin's Voyage seemed off her game after getting banged up a little in the gate before finishing a flat fourth in the Princess Elizabeth, which was won by Cool Shadows in her stakes debut.
Merveilleux and Avie's Samurai, who were a close second and third, respectively, in the PE, are the other contenders in the small field.
The late Pick four begins on the 10th race, which could belong to the Seeme. The 11th and 13th races are wide open, but the 12th can probably be parred down to just Palace Two Step, after the scratch of Red Fiction.
The JH5 carryover is $60K, and the JP6 c/o is nearly $10K.
