Jockey Joe Talamo won the 2,000th race of his career on Rizzi's Honors ($3.20) in Thursday's fifth race.

Talamo won the 1,999th race of his career on Sunday. There was no racing in Southern California from Monday through Wednesday. Rizzi's Honors was his first mount on Thursday.

Talamo's next mount is South Boot Shirley (8) in the seventh race.

Talamo, 29, plans to ride in Southern California through Jan. 5 before relocating to Oaklawn Park for that track's lucrative winter-spring meeting, which opens on Jan. 24.

Talamo won the 1,000th race of his career at Santa Anita in April 2012.
