The Los Angeles county district attorney's office issued a 17-page report on Thursday stating that no criminal wrongdoing took place during a series of equine fatalities at Santa Anitain in the last year.
"After a thorough investigation and review of evidence, the Distict Attorney's Task Force did not find evidence of criminal activity cruelty or unlawful conduct relating to the equine fatalities at Santa Anita Park," the report stated.
The report was issued under the direction of district attorney Jackie Lacey. At the conclusion of the report, the district attorney's office issued numerous recommendations for changes in racing to improve equine safety, several of which have been in put in place in recent months or are under discussion.
