Ballard High euthanized after Tenacious injury

Ballard High broke his shoulder during the running the Tenacious Stakes on Saturday at Fair Grounds and had to be euthanized because of the extent of the injury, according to Fair Grounds stewards.

Ballard High was stalking the pace on the outside racing over a sloppy, sealed racing surface when he went wrong at the 7/16 pole while bending into the far turn. Brian Hernandez Jr. did well to maintain his seat and was able to pull Ballard High up immediately, after which he was vanned off the track.

Dallas Stewart trained Ballard High, a 4-year-old colt by Flat Out, for Mark Stanley and Nancy Stanley.
