Grade 1-winner Hog Creek Hustle is coming out of Saturday's $75,000 Woodchopper Stakes, trainer Vickie Foley said Dec. 24.
Hog Creek Hustle will be redirected to the Duncan Kenner Stakes on Jan. 18 at Fair Grounds. The 3-year-old restricted Woochopper is contested around two turns over one mile on turf; the Duncan Kenner is a six-furlong dirt race.
Hog Creek Hustle never has raced on grass and has become a high-level performer after being cut back to one-turn races in the Pat Day Mile this past May. Hog Creek Hustle won the Grade 1 Woody Stephens in June and most recently finished sixth, beaten 4 1/2 lengths, in the Breeders' Cup Sprint. Belmont Stakes-winner Sir Winston also is among the Woodchopper entrants. The Woodchopper is part of an appealing three-stakes card along with its sister race, the Pago Hop, and the Pan Zareta for older filly-and-mare turf sprinters.
