Fast Enough held off a sustained threat from 35-1 Sacred Rider to win his stakes debut and second start in Saturday's $200,000 California Cup Derby.
Ridden by Tiago Pereira, Fast Enough ($11.60) ran 1 1-16 miles in 1:45.23. The Cal Cup Derby for state-bred and California-sired horses was Fast Enough's first start since an impressive win in a maiden special weight race for California-breds here last May.
By Eddington, Fast Enough races for Craig Martin and trainer Rafael Becerra. Fast Enough was bred in Kentucky, but Eddington stands at Ballena Vista Farm in California.
