Thousand Words remained unbeaten in three starts with an off-the-pace win in Saturday's Grade 3 Robert Lewis Stakes for 3-year-olds at 1 1-16 miles.
Ridden by Flavien Prat, Thousand Words ($3.20) raced on the rail before closing between horses in the stretch to win by three-quarters of a length over 18-1 Royal Act. High Velocity (5-2) set the pace and finished third, a neck behind Royal Act.
Tizamagician finished third, followed by Encoder and Zimba Warrior.
Thousand Words, owned by the Albaugh Family Stables and Spendthrift Farm and trained by Bob Baffert, was timed in 1:43.64.
A colt by Pioneerof the Nile, Thousand Words won his debut in a maiden special weight at 6 1-2 furlongs here in late October and his stakes debut in the Grade 2 Los Alamitos Futurity at 1 1-16 miles on Dec. 7.
Thousand Words was trainer Baffert's 3,000th Thoroughbred win in North America.
