Dennis' Moment completed final preparations for his much anticipated 3-year-old debut in Saturday's Grade 2 Fountain of Youth after breezing four furlongs in 48.02 with regular exercise rider Tammy Fox aboard shortly after 9:00 a.m. here Sunday. Dennis' Moment and his stable mate Mr. Freeze, who'll also run Saturday in the Grade 2 Gulfstream Park Mile, were among nearly 200 horses to breeze over a fast track Sunday at Gulfsream Park.
Dennis' Moment, as usual, spent quite some time on the track warming up before his work. He broke off under Fox at the half-mile pole, posting a quarter-mile split of 24.13, finishing with good energy without being asked then continued out five furlongs into the clubhouse turn in 1:01.42. The work was the seventh for Dennis' Moment since he stumbled at the break and finished far back as the odds on favorite in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile.
Mr Freeze, runner-up behind Mucho Gusto in the Pegasus World Cup Invitational here last month, was among the first workers over the freshly harrowed track following the second renovation break, going five furlongs from the half-mile pole in 1:00.20 before galloping out with excellent energy into and around the turn, completing six panels iin 1:12.60 and easing up a full seven-eighths in 1:26.60. Mr. Freeze will be among the favorites in a deep field for the Gulfsttream Park Mile that could also include Diamond Oops, Bodexpress, True Timber and his own stable mate Rare Form, who also worked five furlongs in 1:00.20 here Sunday.
Other major names on Sunday's bulky tab included Tonalist's Shape, among the favorites for Saturday's Grade 2 Davona Dale, who went five furlongs in company with stable mate Overdelivered in 1:00.80 with the pair galloping out in tandem in 1:13.40.
