The annual 2-year-olds in training auction put on by the Texas Thoroughbred Association and Lone Star Park near Dallas has been canceled, sales director Tim Boyce said Saturday.
The auction was scheduled for April 3 at Lone Star. The track on Friday announced it was delaying horses arriving on its backstretch for the April 16 meet to at least April 3 to comply with state-mandated restrictions in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
The decision to cancel the sale was made during a Saturday board meeting of the Texas Thoroughbred Association. There were 184 horses cataloged to the 2-year-old auction, said Boyce.
“I think we had one of the best sales set for April 3 than we’ve had in Texas for many years,” Boyce said Saturday.
