Boyd Gaming, the parent company of Delta Downs and Evangeline Downs in Louisiana, announced Tuesday that the temporary closure of its casinos at those tracks has been extended through April 12 by order of the Louisiana Gaming Control Board.
The facilities were temporarily closed March 17 to comply with an order from the state's Gaming Control Board. The order was issued in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
Evangeline Downs was to open a Thoroughbred meet April 8, but it has been postponed because the order also covers the racetrack, said David Strow, vice president of corporate communications for Boyd Gaming.
Boyd also announced that casino properites it has in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania have had closures extended due to state mandates. Illinois is extended through April 8, Indiana through April 6, Ohio through April 6 and Pennsylvania until further notice.
