Ruidoso Downs in New Mexico is scheduled to open its meet Friday with a program of 14 trial races for the Grade 1, $1 million Ruidoso Futurity for Quarter Horses. A second card of 14 trials for the same finale will be run next Saturday. In all, 277 horses will be gunning for 10 spots in the starting gate for the Ruidoso Futurity.
