Louisiana Downs in Bossier City, La., opens its meet June 6 and entries for the program will be taken on Saturday. The stable area is at capacity in advance of the season, which is scheduled for 64 dates through Sept. 23. The meet that was postponed about a month due to restrictions brought on by the coronavirus pandemic will begin spectator-free ontrack.
"The barn area is full, trainers are ready to go, and all I can say now is, 'Let's go racing,'" said David Heitzmann, director of racing for Louisiana Downs.
The stable area includes divisions from trainers Steve Asmussen, Karl Broberg, Joey Foster, Jim Hodges and H.B. Johnson. New faces for the meet include trainers Shane Wilson, Eric Heitzmann and Scott Gelner.
Louisiana Downs is scheduled to race on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
