He Looks Hot, the 2019 Quarter Horse World Champion, was euthanized in June after a bout with colic, trainer Scott Willoughby said on Sunday.
Willoughby made the announcement shortly after he won the Vessels Maturity at Los Alamitos with Chocolatito. He Looks Hot won the 2016 Vessels Maturity.
He Looks Hot, owned and bred by Los Alamitos track owner Ed Allred, was retired in January after finishing last in a division of the Brad McKinzie Los Alamitos Winter Championship trials. He Looks Hot was at Allred’s ranch in Atascadero, Calif., when he was stricken.
Last December, He Looks Hot won the $600,000 Champion of Champions at Los Alamitos, Quarter Horse racing’s top race for older horses. An 8-year-old, He Looks Hot won 14 of 39 starts and earned $1,618,055 in a career that began in 2014.
