Lone Star Park near Dallas on Tuesday received Texas Racing Commission approval to move the start date of the Quarter Horse meet to Sept. 4. It had been scheduled to begin Sept. 11.
Lone Star requested the earlier start date in order to have live racing on Kentucky Derby Day, which this year has been postponed to Sept. 5.
Lone Star is scheduled to conduct 26 dates of Quarter Horse racing through Nov. 21.
The projected average daily purse structure is $225,000, according to documents filed with the Texas Racing Commission.
