A competitive group of horses will line up for Tuesday's featured sixth race at Louisiana Downs. The second-level allowance for 3-year-olds and up at about a mile on turf carries an optional claiming price of $17,500. The cast includes Majestic Sign, who was third last out to the win-streaking Take That For Data, and Freedomfi, a 3-year-old half-brother to Underpressure, a top Louisiana-bred who has won seven stakes and earned nearly $750,000.
Also in action on the card is the trainer-jockey team of Steve Asmussen and Joel Dominguez. The men won three races together Saturday at Louisiana Downs on a seven-race program in which Dominguez won a total of four races. Dominguez, who once one six races on a card at Louisiana Downs, has a longstanding relationship with Asmussen.
"Riding for Steve this meet means a great deal to me,” Dominguez told Louisiana Downs publicist Martha Claussen. “When I was in Kentucky, I worked hard and tried to learn everything. As I progressed, Steve began to trust me galloping some of his top horses; I remember the first time I worked Rachel Alexandra. That was very special and gave me so much confidence!”
