Delta Downs in Vinton, La., on Wednesday received Louisiana Racing Commission approval for an 84-date meet for Thoroughbreds running from Nov. 24 through April 16. 

The track had to amend its originally granted schedule due to August damage sustained in Hurricane Laura. It was originally scheduled to open its meet in October and run to the end of February. 

Delta had asked for 79 dates as part of an amended application, but on Wednesday told commissioners it wanted to expand its request to the original 84 after discussions with horsemen. The track will race Mondays through Thursdays with the exception of the first week, and daily post will be 12:55 p.m. Central. The daytime post is due to track lighting not being available because of storm damage, according to an official with Delta. 

The stable area is scheduled to open Oct. 27.
