Arklow arrives from Kentucky

“They made it.” The message was short and sweet, from trainer Brad Cox. Arklow, whose status for the Grade 2 Hollywood Turf Cup on Friday was jeopardized by a flight delay from Kentucky, has arrived at Del Mar with three others for graded stakes this weekend.

Arklow is the 5-2 favorite in the Turf Cup, Juliet Foxtrot will be a top contender Sunday in the Grade 1 Matriarch, and Royal Prince also runs Sunday in the Grade 3 Cecil B. DeMille Stakes. Those three Cox trainees, and Paulo Lobo-trained Seabiscuit entrant Imperador, arrived early Thursday at Del Mar. Crisis averted. Happy Thanksgiving!
