The New Mexico Racing Commission on Friday approved postponing the start of Sunland Park's meet by 30 days and will revisit the issue in January. The vote was unanimous. Sunland Park was scheduled to open for a 42-date mixed meet Dec. 26.
The commission on Friday also approved a 30 percent purse increase for Zia Park, plus adding an additional race a day for its final six dates of the meet that closes Dec. 23.
