Hall of Fame jockey Kent Desormeaux, who missed several months of riding in the fall while attending a rehabilitation facility for substance abuse issues, won for the first time since July in Thursday's eighth race.
Desormeaux rode Satches de Ritches ($10.20) in a $20,000 claimer for sprinters. Satches de Ritches is trained by Bob Hess, Jr. Desormeaux and Hess have been a successful partnership since the jockey moved to California in the early 1990s.
Satches de Ritches was Desormeaux's third mount of the winter-spring meeting, which began on Dec. 26.
