Varda, the winner of the Grade 1 Starlet Stakes at Los Alamitos in December, was withdrawn from Sunday's Grade 2 Santa Ynez Stakes for 3-year-old fillies on race morning.

Trainer Bob Baffert said on Thursday that he was strongly considering skipping the Santa Ynez with Varda, but wanted to enter to see the lineup.

Without Varda, Baffert still has the expected favorite in Kalypso, who was second in the Starlet. Of the seven runners in the Santa Ynez, Baffert trains three, including Exotic West and Frosteria.
