Letruska, at 2-5, was a powerful winner of the Grade 3, $300,000 Houston Ladies Classic on Sunday at Sam Houston Race Park. She covered the mile and a sixteenth for fillies and mares in 1:45.02.
Letruska moved to the lead soon after the start and set fractions of 23.66 for the opening quarter, 48.56 for the half-mile and 1:12.99 for six furlongs. The main track was fast for what is the richest race of the meet at Sam Houston.
Jesus Castanon was aboard Letruska for trainer Fausto Gutierrez.
Last week, Gutierrez said Letruska has a goal of the Grade 1, $1 million Apple Blossom at Oaklawn.
Ujjay finished second in the Houston Ladies Classic and Lady Apple was third in the race she won in 2020.
