Santa Anita: Life Is Good cruises in San Felipe

Life Is Good ($3) led throughout Saturday's Grade 2 San Felipe Stakes, recording an easy win by eight lengths to remain unbeaten in three starts.

Ridden by Mike Smith, Life Is Good finished 1 1-16 miles in 1:42.18 despite drifting out into the middle of the track through the stretch.

The win emphasized Life Is Good's status as a leading contender for the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs on May 1.

Medina Spirit, second by three-quarters of a length to Life Is Good in the Grade 3 Sham Stakes at a mile on Jan. 2, finished second in the San Felipe, three-quarters of a length in front of Dream Shake, who had his stakes debut.

Roman Centurian finished fourth, followed by The Great One, None Above the Law, and Govenor's Party.

Life Is Good, trained by Bob Baffert, won his debut in a maiden special weight race at 6 1-2 furlongs at Del Mar and had his stakes debut in the Sham at a mile.
