Lone Star Park near Dallas opens on Thursday night and there is quite a bit in store for the track's 25th anniversary season. The enhanced $2.9 million stakes schedule gets underway with the first race, the Bluebonnet Stakes that drew a field of 10.

Asmussen trainne eyes Texas Derby at Lone Star
Asmussen, the track's all time leading trainer who last year became the all-time leading trainer in wins in North America, is the subject of a new wall mural at Lone Star and will sign posters depicting the art during the races on Thursday. First post is 6:35 p.m. Central.
"With him hitting that milestone last August, after our season ended, we feel like this is his home track, we really need to do a good job of honoring that milestone," said Leigh.
Lone Star races through July 24, with the highlight of the meet Lone Star Million Day on May 30.
