The late brothers Clarence Picou and Jimmy Picou on Saturday are to be inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame at the Museum of the Gulf Coast in Port Arthur, Texas. The event begins at 2 p.m. Central.
The Picous were lifelong horsemen who after careers as jockeys turned to training. Jimmy Picou's long list of top class trainees includes the Grade 1 winners Val's Prince and Diplomatic Jet. Clarence Picou won the Grade 1 Super Derby in 1991 with Free Spirit's Joy, while his other trainees of note included the six-time stakes winner Spiritbound.
Hal Wiggins, who won the Kentucky Oaks with Rachel Alexandra, was previously inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame at the Museum of the Gulf Coast.
