Seeking the Soul, who won the Grade 3 Ack Ack Stakes at Churchill Downs last weekend, will join the field for the $6 million Breeders' Cup Classic on Nov. 3 at Churchill Downs, trainer Dallas Stewart said Wednesday.
Seeking the Soul won the Grade 1 Clark at Churchill Downs last year. Stewart is based at Churchill Downs.
"He's a great horse, ran great, loves the track. We're looking at the Classic," Stewart said from his barn. "He's won a Grade 1 over the track already. I think that's what we're doing."
Seeking the Soul also had been under consideration for the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile, a one-turn mile similar to the Ack Ack. The Dirt Mile also is on Nov. 3.
Seeking the Soul, 5, was bred and is owned by Charles Fipke, who teamed with Stewart to win last year's Breeders' Cup Distaff with the champion mare Forever Unbridled.
Seeking the Soul has won six times in 21 starts and has earned just shy of $1.5 million. He is 1 for 4 this year.
