Trainer Peter Eurton said on Monday that champion Champagne Room, who won the $200,000 Remington Oaks on Sunday at Remington Park, is under serious consideration for the Breeders' Cup Distaff. He said discussions are ongoing with her ownership.
Champagne Room had been considered for the Filly and Mare Sprint, too, but Eurton said because of the way she runs two turns and her stamina, the leanings now are toward the Distaff. Champagne Room flies home to Southern California later Monday. She was making her second start since February in the Remington Park Oaks and was a clear winner, while covering a mile and a sixteenth in a stakes-record time of 1:42.05.
