Firing Tools has been disqualified from the list of probable starters for Saturday’s $750,000 Champion of Champions at Los Alamitos after a post-race hair follicle test taken after a time trial on Nov. 19 revealed the presence of clenbuterol.

Los Alamitos made the announcement in a statement released Tuesday.

Clenbuterol is not allowed to appear in post-race hair follicle test.

Firing Tools was fourth in the second of two divisions of time trials on No. 19. Mr PYC To You, third in the first division, has been added to the Champion of Champions field in place of Firing Tools, pending the result of a hair-follicle test expected to be released on Wednesday.

Entries for the 440-yard race will be taken on Wednesday.

Heza Dasha Fire, who won the 2015 Champion of Champions and was second last year, will be a heavy favorite in the nation’s leading race for older Quarter Horses.
