Lane 4 and firm for the turf on a comfortable/cloudy day for the 12-race Woodbine Oaks card. The $500K Oaks goes as race 11 at 6:37 p.m., which is a mere nine minutes before Justify bids for the Triple Crown in the Belmont Stakes.
Kentucky Oaks runner-up Wonder Gadot will be a short price in the nine-furlong Oaks, and justifably so. Even though she hasn't won this year, the reigning Canadian champion 2yo filly has kept some tough company, and has worked nicely leading up to the race. Selene Stakes second-place finisher Dixie Moon should be the main threat, and the Stronach Stable maiden Hot Cash could round out the top three in the compact five-horse field.
The other important Queen's Plate prep is the ninth, the $125K Plate Trial Stakes, in which Telekinesis should be odds-on in his first start on the Tapeta. Two-time stakes winner Silent Sting should be forwardly placed and dangerous, while going off lower than his 8-1 morning line price. The Saratoga-based Scrapper is making his first start on synthetics for trainer Todd Pletcher. Aheadbyacentury is taking the blinkers off.
The Jackpot Hi 5 carryover is nearly $20K.
Stormy Rush and Dragon's Cry are scratched from the third. Both were re-entered tomorrow.
Christopher Husbands is off his mounts.
