Triple Crown-winning rider Mike Smith will make an appearance at Ruidoso Downs in his homestate of New Mexico on July 8, the track announced on Sunday morning. Smith swept the Triple Crown this year aboard Justify.

Ruidoso is conducting a meet for Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds that runs through Labor Day, Sept. 3. 

Smith's appearance will serve as a means to raise funds for the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund.
