Mr. Ritz settled in second under Jose Valdivia Jr., powered past pace-setting Factor This, and won the $200,000 Caesars Stakes by about three lengths over late-running Untamed Domain.
This was the stakes debut for Mr. Ritz, who is trained by Josie Carroll for owner Earle Mack. Off a half-mile split of 49.18, Mr. Ritz ($22.80) was timed in 1:36.20 for one mile on a turf course rated "good."
Mr. Ritz made one start in England before being imported to North America. Carroll added blinkers to apparently good effect three starts ago and Mr. Ritz, by Oasis Dream out of Que Puntual, by Contested Bid.
There was a power surge at Indiana Grand just before the start and the incorrect finishing order was initially posted on the infield tote board. The official top four running order was 5-6-4-7.
