Alpenhorn (5-1) unseated jockey Eulices Gomez at the start of Thursday's third race, but was ruled a starter when she broke with the other five runners.
This was the second time in three races that Alpenhorn had difficulty at the start. She refused to beak here on July 14. At Del Mar on Aug. 15, Alpenhorn broke slowly and finished seventh. Her behavior at the gate has obviously been an ongoing concern for trainer Peter Eurton.
Alpenhorn ran behind the field without incident on Thursday.
Alpenhorn, a 4-year-old filly by Empire Way, has not always had these difficulties. She won two of her first three starts in 2016 and 2017.
Thursday's third race was won by Hailey Rachele ($3.40).
