We're trying to ascertain here exactly what happened with SIR SENESCAL and jockey Leonel Reyes, who fell together with about 3 furlongs left in race 3. So far, we know the colt was euthanized and the jockey is being "tended to," per a track official. Will update ASAP.
The 7-furlong race was won by BOTERO, a Don Alberto homebred making his 2nd career start and his first in the care of HOF trainer Bill Mott. The 4yo son of Medaglia d'Oro enjoyed benefit of an outside stalking trip before pulling clear in the final furlong from PERSONAL TIME, the full brother to 2013 Ky. Derby winner Orb and the 4-5 favorite in this field of 6. The full result was 6-5-3-1.
Back here on DRF Live or on Twitter (@DRFMcGee) when a definitive diagnosis of Reyes is known.
