Pray Hard, who finished last of six in Saturday's second race, was found to have bled from the nose after the race. He was claimed for $32,000, but the transaction was voided because of the bleeding incident, according to steward Scott Chaney.
Pray Hard would have gone to Robertino Diodoro, but will be return to trainer Doug O'Neill's stable. He was walked off the track after he was found to have bled.
Cherubim, who finished fifth as the 7-5 favorite, was claimed in a two-way shake by Peter Miller.
The race was won by Iron Rob ($21.80). Iron Rob won two minor stakes for 3-year-old sprinters at Santa Anita in early 2016 and was eighth in the Santa Anita Derby that year.
